Introducing Ying and Ollie who will be our first bride and groom of 2012. We drove up into Derbyshire to meet them at The Cavendish Hotel, Baslow where they will be having their reception. It’s in such a beautiful location with views towards the Peak District. A lot of photo opportunities outside as well as inside. We are really looking forward to their wedding at the end of January.

A few weeks prior to Liz and Adam’s wedding we met up in Burton-on-Trent to go over their final arrangements for their wedding day. We did a ‘get to know you’ photographic shoot around the location of their venue, The Meynell Ingram Arms in Hoar Cross.

A few weeks later we made our way down to Burton-on-Trent again to photograph their big day. We started off with the wedding preparations then went on to SS Marys and Modwens Church in the middle of Burton-on-Trent for the ceremony. It is located by a very busy road with not much room for photographs. However, the inside made up for it as it was stunning. All day we were fighting with the elements … sunshine, cloudy then torrential rain. Luckily the rain came just as they were going in for their wedding breakfast. To top everything the day ended up with a fabulous sunset. We thoroughly enjoyed photographing the wedding.

I met Anna and Matt at Norwood Park in early April for their ‘get to know you’ pre wedding shoot and to go over their final preparations. It was lovely to see them again. They booked us after we photographed their friends wedding last year. Anna was a bridesmaid to Sarah and Matt an usher to Mark. Similarly Sarah and Mark were to swap roles. As you know the weather was absolutely fabulous in April … what was it to be like in June?

The weather on June 4th was beautiful. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. I started with the bridal preparations at Anna’s parents’ house in Calverton whilst Brian went over to the Saracens Head in Southwell to photograph Matt and his groomsmen. Across the way was Southwell Minster which was an excellent background for the shots. Anna and Matt got married at St Wilfred’s Church in Calverton and then went on to Norwood Park in Southwell for the reception.
Competition: Firstly comment on the following set of images and then vote for your ONE favourite photograph. Anna and Matt will be entitled to a 12×8 inch print of the image with the most votes. Competition will end on the 10th July 2011.

Last month we met up with Rachel and Martyn at Thrumpton Hall for their ‘get to know you’ shoot. They are a lovely, fun loving couple whose wedding took place at the end of April. Photos will be posted soon. Until then here are a few from the pre wedding shoot.

Get To Know You Shoot
Three weeks before Laura and Matt’s wedding Brian and I met up with them at their venue, West Retford Hotel, to finalise their details and to do a ‘get to know you shoot’. We had a lovely afternoon walking around the grounds. They were excited talking about the preparations and really looking forward to their wedding day.

Wedding Day
On Saturday 23rd April 2011 Laura and Matt tied the knot. We started at St. Saviours Church, Retford, and then went on to the West Retford Hotel. We were so lucky with the weather. If anything it was too hot as the groom and groomsmen were dressed up in their woolen outfits (thinking it was April, they didn’t expect the temperature to be in the high 20’s C !) looking smart on the outside but sweltering on the inside. The day went fabulously. A thunderstorm (short and sharp) happened whilst they had their wedding breakfast (good timing) and later it was so pleasant with wonderfully cool air and beautiful light.

Say hi to Lucy and Robin who are getting married in March at the lovely venue of Stubton Hall. They were over here over Christmas from Dubai. I caught up with them on the most foggiest of days, before they headed back, to finalise their photographic schedule and to do a pre wedding/get to know you shoot.

Met up with Katie and Stephen at the Belton Woods De Vere Hotel for their pre wedding shoot and final consultation before their wedding in three weeks time on Boxing Day. Very exciting. We were lucky that the sun came out for us. Snowy landscape and blue sky … brilliant. Hope it is like this on their wedding day. Here are a few of the images we took.

Introducing Shannon and Alex. I met up with Shannon and Alex a week before their wedding for a pre wedding shoot and to go through the order and timings of the photography on the day. This was the first time I had met them as they live in Trinidad.

Shannon and Alex got married in Potterhanworth, Lincolnshire and then had their wedding reception at Washingborough Hall. The weather was very changeable starting off with downpours and then bright, welcoming sunshine but that didn’t spoil their day. Whilst their guests relaxed after the ceremony at the church with cup cakes and tea we went to Washingborough Hall with the couple to capture their photographs. As they arrived at the Hall a calypso band struck up. This was very authentic as Shannon is from Trinidad. At first Shannon thought it was a CD playing but when she discovered that Alex had especially ordered a calypso band for her she was over the moon. We had a great time with them capturing their day and their love for each other.

Hi there to Bradina and Paul who are getting married at Dunchurch Park Hotel this coming Friday. Myself and Brian had a lovely afternoon strolling around the grounds of the hotel with Bradina and Paul, taking photographs and talking about their wedding and their final details. For me this is an important part of our services, to get to know the couple and to make sure they are nice and relaxed with the camera before their big day. Here are a handful of images.
